Most ppl have experienced some form of hyperpigmentation. It can be difficult to treat at times, but it is possible.
Hyperpigmentation is classified as the darkening of the skin in a certain area due to certain factors such as, melasma, post-Inflammatory pigmentation, acne or age spots to name a few. Depending on the depth of the hyperpigmentation, that would determine the treatment of choice to treat the condition. Some conditions can be treated with an exfoliating product simply added to your skincare regimen. That would be the case for some conditions that are fairly new and not that deep in the epidermis.
If the hyperpigmentation is not diminishing with the exfoliating product after a few weeks of usage, then a more advanced approach would be necessary. This is where you'd consult with an esthetician to schedule a chemical peel, microdermabrasion, or micro-needling service. These particular services are all different, but are very effective at treating hyperpigmentation. Corrective services along with the proper skincare regimen would yield great results. Patience and consistency are key.
The services listed above should correct the issue after a few weeks of usage. However, if the hyperpigmentation is being a pest, then more advanced services would be required. This typically happens if the hyperpigmentation is deeper in the skin's layers (dermis). Medium depth chemical peels and laser services would be the necessary treatment in this situation. The medium depth peels would be able to penetrate deeper into the skin to correct the hyperpigmentation. The new lasers used in skin esthetics have also been modified and designed to increase effectiveness and treat all skin ethnicities nowadays. These more advanced services can be a bit more costly. As always, each situation is different and on a case by case basis that would determine necessary treatment length.
